*** We are all sold out for summer 2024, and at this time we won't be taking reservations on hogs as we most likely won't be growing them for a while. The price of hogs, feed and butcher costs has become so high that we are no longer making money growing pigs.***
About Our Pigs
We are super excited to be raising Berkshire and Duroc heritage breed pigs! These breeds are noted for their red color and incredible marbling. It is considered the "ribeye" of all pork. This is super-premium pork at a very reasonable price!
Our pigs are raised outdoors on pastures with dirt and grass to root around in. We provide shelter and shade and automatic water misters to reduce stress during the heat. We feed them 100% Certified Organic Non-GMO hog feed that is free of wheat, corn and soy, for those with food sensitivities! Our pork is not certified USDA organic, but you can come check out what we feed and how we raise them; they are "beyond organic."
Pricing
We are currently selling on a "live animal arrangement" only, by the whole or by the half. "Live animal" means you technically "own" the animal before it is slaughtered. We charge you on a live weight basis of the hog. We can partner you up with someone if you can't take a whole or a half, to split it evenly.
Current 2023 pricing is $4.75 per pound live weight. A $200 deposit per half is required at time of reservation. You pay for all the butcher costs, including smoking and any custom link sausages (basic cut is about $1.10 per pound hanging weight; smoking is about $1.00 per pound of actual smoked weight; and custom sausage is from $2.50 to $4.50 per pound of actual sausage weight, depending on flavor). We currently use Michelle's Custom Cutting in Bakersfield as our butcher.
We finish weight at around 300 pounds per hog, plus or minus 50 pounds. The older heritage breeds taste better at a higher weight, but they take longer to finish than today's commercial feedlot breeds (which are finished in half the time at about 225 pounds).
Here's an example:
In a whole or half hog you get pork chops, hams, bacon, sausage, roasts (perfect for carnitas!), pork steaks, and ribs. This is a premium pastured pork product that we will confidently compare to any pork you can buy, anywhere!
We accept Cash, Check, Zelle or Venmo payments. Please contact us for details.
To order, please contact us for the reservation form and cut sheets.

Here's an example:
- 300 pound live hog @ $4.75/lb live = $1425.00
- Average hanging weight is about 72% or about 216 pounds for a 300 pound hog.
- Butcher's cut fee will be about $1.10 per pound hanging weight, or about $230 per half roughly depending on weight.
- Total for a whole, 300 lb. hog with basic butcher fee would be about $1,650 out the door in this example. A half hog would be about $825 out the door.
- A whole 300 lb. hog will yield around 180 lbs. of meat, and at $1,650 is around $9.16 per pound for organic, pastured raised, heritage breed pork.
- Smoked ham and smoked bacon is extra, and could average about $35-$45 each for ham or bacon (whole hog), or $70-$90 for both.
- Optional flavored link sausage = about $2.50 to $5.00 per pound, depending on flavor.
